The roles and responsibilities of the unit include establishing and maintaining the quality management system (QMS) to promote high quality standards and best academic practices that can guarantee appropriate delivery of the academic project.

Quality Reviews of Academic Departments, support units and academic programmes.
Peer quality reviews and institutional audits facilitated by the CHE and other relevant external authorities, where applicable/required.
Evaluation of proposals for introducing new and modifying existing academic programmes in support of the university’s strategic intent of continual expansion and review of the Programme Qualification Mix (PQM).
Strategic planning support, including the development of the UFS institutional strategy and Annual Performance Plans submitted to the DHET.
