AP facilitates participation in external quality reviews by faculties, academic departments, and support units to facilitate continuous improvement of the quality of teaching and learning, curriculum, research, community engagement and other activities:

• Quality reviews are conducted on five-year cycle basis.
• The faculties, academic departments, and support units follow a four-phases, which ends in the development and implementation of a quality improvement plan (QIP)

Self-Evaluation Report Guidelines for Academic Departments

The self-evaluation report (SER) template is meant to assist the academic departments in evaluating the quality and effectiveness of their academic practice concerning learning and teaching, research, community involvement, and resource allocation. Through engagement in the self-study, the departments get an opportunity to carefully assess the efficiency and effectiveness of their systems, processes, structures, policies, resources, etc., about the different areas of the academic practice, assisting them in rethinking and reconceptualising their practice for purposes of improvement of quality and effectiveness.

Self-Evaluation Report Guidelines Support Units

The purpose of the support unit external review is to assess and improve the quality and effectiveness of support service provisioning as well as its community involvement and research activities/outputs where applicable. The review also assesses the efficiency of the resources that support the different functions of the unit.

External Review Report for Academic Departments

The departmental external review report is structured according to the Terms of Reference as presented to the reviewers by the Directorate for Institutional Research and Academic Planning (DIRAP).

Development and Implementation of the Improvement Plan

The final improvement plan should be submitted to DIRAP six months after the department/Unit received the external review report.
